For socialists of Galloway's school, selling less of almost everything material, goods and services... to working people, is a really big ask. Explaining that working people in the rich West are gonna have to swallow a lower stardard of living, is an electoral nightmare, understandably so. All his life has been about getting a proper and fair share of societies wealth into the hands of working people; better jobs, schools, health, ect. To say goodbye to all that is... difficult. Social Democracy, has always argued that the bigger the cake the easier it was to get a bigger slice for working people, without having to massively redistribute wealth/power in society. More, for everyone! The Chinese regime wants China to have a stardard of living comparable to the richest countries of the West. Why should they voluntarily say no to this goal, in return for nothing from the West? This is another reason we're 'doomed'.
