I;m not sure that Russia will take Odessa. It's a beautiful city and I think the Russians will not wish to see it destroyed in a war. I believe it's in Russia's interests to have a functioning state next door, and not wreck it. A functioning port to the Black Sea is a vital part of a healthy Ukrainian state - if it remains neutral and its army neutralised, I think Russia could cope with the Finlandisation of Ukraine. But of course that depends on whether the West is willing to see an end to this conflict and accept this. Biden won't but perhaps another president might. The UK will go along with whatever the US tells it. . "An ugly victory" as Mearsheimer says for Russia is also an "ugly defeat" for Europe. It would be worth a lot to avoid this.
