"In other words, if viewers are not overly sympathetic to fossil fuel companies’ wish to avoid regulation, climate policy is portrayed as a broad imposition on all “ordinary” people, driven by a “liberal elite” that (for reasons not specified) is intent on curbing individual rights."

Less human rights: more right to exist. Even though I personally fitted insulation in the walls when rebuilding them over twenty years ago (terribly unfashionable then I know...) its probably "substandard" now, and instead of replacing the sash and case traditional wooden hundred year old windows with new double glazed plastic stuff instead I fixed and renovated them ...and also I run a very efficient solid fuel stove which can burn coal, wood, peat etc ...but which no matter how efficient in burning fuel (-does my heating, central heating and hot water) is probably classed as CO2 undesirable...I'm sure that the "official" rules being brought in by the greens/SNP concerning house "energy ratings" will take little of this into account and indeed will eventually make my house ultimately unsaleable on environmental grounds... to of course anyone other than hedge funds geared up to machine-match these guidelines.

"Greenwash" is real and going to impoverish lots of ordinary people: it wont matter to the rich. As I have said before I suspect that many Greens are middle class Malthusians intent on an unspoken quiet genocide involving malnutrition and hypothermia.
