The state public retirement system today is not at all what it used to be. LbSU pay is low these days for anything but executive types. Getting membership into the retirement system does not kick in until 2 years after beginning of employment. No longer worth it for regular employees,instructors, and paid staff to stay for long periods.
Most instructors now are part time, many being lecturers.
Also many employees are Foundation employees and are not eligible for state benefits.
