Certainly, but those teams rely on hot shooting, a la the Old Warriors teams. And the talent level is high.
In contrast, the teams that can handle almost any situation, even when they're shooting bad, always have a shot with some presence in the paint. UCONN is a freak example, we all know nothing compares to that level. But man, their big men make an incredible difference on both sides of the floor.

There's been a couple teams last few years make it to elite 8 with no starter taller than 6'7".
I never complained about height. I could care less if we start 6’8 at center. Basketball doesn’t need a 7ft back to basket post like 25 years ago. There are only so many bigs like the Purdue guy who are game changers and not a liability on the perimeter.
Doesn’t mean size isn’t an asset. A truly dominant Big west post like Williams at UCSB. He was undersized height wise, but was burly and moved well and was an actual post player. Irvine guys have been complementary to their system.
Did he try? Too busy recruiting 5'5 point guards.
But remember it was just a few years ago when most of us were complaining that CDM could not get good sized big men here...

I’ve never been a height is an end all be all, but can be an asset for sure. Welcome young man!
Acker is going for height and going for talent. He's someone who knows what needs to be done! Let's go Beach!
