I am also concerned with athletics seemingly prioritizing NIL for men's basketball. Monies donated in this way will only go to athletes. It will not benefit the dept itself. There is already a huge problem an athlete that had committed to Florida State. His parents, unbeknown to him, hired an agent. He found out when the university told him he would no longer be accepted there. After some changes, he is now going to Arkansas. He is now telling other athletes he knows to beware of agents and thoroughly investigate them and the ramifications thereof before hiring one.
NIL monies do not directly help the athletic dept and I feel they will not give long-term benefits to the athletic dept. Big West schools, as well as schools in other mid majors conferences, will not benefit from this. Instead they will lose donors monies as a result of it, and in addition will incur added expenses, as well as possible law suits dealing with it.
