The Aloha stadium is owned by the city ofHonolulu which declared it a hazard. It was so termite ridden and structurally worn out, rusted, the city would have big suits on their hands if it went down, Sjsu’s is on campus, albeit old, so state money would be needed. I have said for years they and Sac should just drop football, but it is their choice.
I'd be fine adding SJSU, the market and Davis travel partner seem logical. I think the stadium "remodel" was a ploy to tear down the aging stadium and cut football. They'll announce it as a hazard, similar to Hawaii. But will turn the stadium into a downsized soccer/FCS stadium.
Last round of realignment really was above the Big West's pay grade. This could have some implications.
One more school leaving sets off the full scramble. UNLV is gaining momentum and is the next biggest historical name. Air Force is a compliment to Colorado State.
MW are running out of options with NIL era pressures, and everyone gun shy of joining a failing conference. First call is probably to the NMSU/UTEP contingent. Pressure then falls to Hawaii, either to full MW member, but maybe they are a longshot Pac-12 member. FCS callups aren't great, maybe the Montanas and Dakotas all decide to leap, and maybe that is the best case for current MW staying at FBS, more at a MAC level than battling with American for best next conference. Does Idaho have any nostalgia? Sac is in talks for shared stadium with soccer, but broke.
LB probably isn't in these talks at any capacity. Cal Poly, Davis, Hawaii probably held emergency meetings to discuss options if approached.
Not in football, only all other sports.
SJSU to Big West
Sucks for Mountain West. They were gaining ground now they will probably be bigwest+.
