I think criticism of the outgoing President is not unreasonable. I think Connelly was a huge step down from Alexander and Maxson. Additionally, When you spend enormous time and money and cannot identify a good candidate, it seems silly not to be critical of the process.
On the other hand, at this point, I see little reason to be critical of the temp. I think we know too little about him to be sure, but in general I like some things. 1) He was in private practice for a number of years as well as being a named partner in a law firm. 2)He also has extensive background in the CSU. I am hopeful this background combining experience in private and public service has him well prepared.

You guys complain about our outgoing president, as well as the temp person and the search process. Do you think it is easy to replace a university president? Also, I hope this current person, Jones, will do good things.

Nobody interested possibly due to lower pay than most college presidents as well as the headaches running the school at this time.

How do we not have a permanent president? She gave ample notice.

CSU Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel Andrew Jones.
Per Mildred Garcia: I write to announce that I have appointed CSU Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel Andrew Jones to serve as acting president of Cal State Long Beach, succeeding President Jane Close Conoley upon her retirement after more than a decade of dedicated service. His appointment will be effective August 25, 2025, and will continue until the national search for the university’s next regularly appointed president is completed. He will not be a candidate for this position.
