You and I are of the same era, as I graduated in 1969. It is sad, and I have no solution. I have given money for years, and I suppose that I will continue to do so, but I am not as sure of that as I once was. I enjoy going to the games (lots of them) but all of the loses are starting to get to me. It is hard to accept where we are in so many of our sports. I do not blame anyone, but rather think that we have fallen victim to all of the NCAA changes, which seem to much more favor the football schools over mid-majors like us. Yes, I am aware that others in our conference have seemed to do better than us in dealing with this issue!!!
Still proud to be a 49'er, but I too am frustrated!!!

I've been around LBSU men's and women's basketball since I was a student in 1968. It baffles me to see how far we have fallen in both sports. Coach Tark accomplished something that will never be done again with 2 sweet 16's and 2 elite 8's in the 49ers first four years of Division 1 eligibility. Coach Bonvicini reached 2 Final Fours in the 80's. I don't expect that anymore obviously for many reasons. What I do expect is for a school that has good facilities, great weather and great tradition is to at least be competitive in an average conference. What I have seen so far by both programs is the weakest rosters EVER. There is absolutely NO offense on this years men's roster. This roster is weaker than even the Ron Palmer years! The women's roster is just as bad offensively. It's very sad to see both programs in the state that they are with very little hope. Just an observation and please do respond if you feel differently.
