I've been a season ticket holder for 30 and I have not seen in a team either ours or theirs as badly coached by Ackler. He clearly is lost. This team mostly shoots 3 that don't go in or drives that misses, or drives that get block by the rim or clanks altogether. The big men are soft and its the guards that rebound. Ackler should be fired with the entire coaching staff. The AD SHOULD BE FIRED FOR BEING COMPLETELY INEPT. The DRINKING boxes send the wrong message. The might as well run ads for sports betting in an electron banner. They need to bring the 49er back (not Pete). Notre Dame, Notre's or the UCLA, Angeles would never be allowed so why the BEACH. It's absolutely ludicrous. The last president of the school sold out our sports programs and we will never be the same for our programs have been ruined for the next 10 years. No quality basketball player wants to play for a team that has lost 19 games in a row. Previous Message
Portland is shooting 29-of-39 late in the second half. That's 75 percent from the field. For a defense to allow that...nearly all of which were easy layups...is a fundamental flaw in the coaching.
Chris Ackler LOVES gaslighting the fans by talking about how they're building something, growing, etc.. But in reality, every single one of his players left last year. And were replaced by a team that is doing literally the exact same thing.
21 consecutive losses (sorry, not counting Nobel lol) is enough evidence to suggest this was a failed hire. I hope that someday I am proven wrong, but I watch every game and it's just deja vu every time they play.
FWIW, I don't think this is a talent issue. Clearly Acker has some recruiting chops. This is an in-game coaching/retention/team culture issue. Something is failing, big time.
As an aside, it's embarrassing that this program can't play in its home gym when it rains. Figure it out. I see Bobby built a nice new suite behind the basket for donors/admins. How about fix the roof?
