Only theory I have for doing this at the beginning of the season is it ensures Nick MacRae gets the HC job, no time or reason to look around, which is exactly what Coach Knipe wants to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if the ultimate volleyball tactician partly did this right now just to ensure Nick is elevated to HC.

Believe all the perenially competitive coaches now gone since the SDSU crew arrive, too.
