One thing that is not clear about last year's team, was which, if any, of the players that left were invited back? One aspect of the new reality we are in is that while players no longer have an obligation to us, beyond the current season, we also do not have an obligation to them. I know last year we had too many players who were not team folks, and several who turned out to not be talented enough. My presumption is that some of the players from last year were not invited back. I assume not all of this year's players will get an invite to return. Some who I hope will return start with Petar and Sykes (both are likely out of our price range), guys with development potential that would be good to get back include Levillain, Diaz, Farrell, Lewis and DMX.

I'm not convinced they all will. Yes, some will but not all. Also at some point getter extra money from another school may not be worth the delay to complete their graduation requirements. Previous Message
Let's hope our new LB State President will right the ship. It is unacceptable to me that the men have missed the tourney 2 years in a row. If most of the current players hit the transfer portal, that is a very bad sign. Previous Message
Susan and I were talking about the Big West Tournament in Henderson yesterday. We have gone to every Big West torunament for years, and it will be VERY sad to not have a team in the tournament this year! We will certainly miss the Tournament, even if we only had one team in it and we were a one and done!!! How far we have fallen!!! Let's hope that we can put it back together again and get back to the tournament again next year!!! Previous Message
I think Henderson is not great for developing fans of the Big West programs. In Covid, it was logical. Nevada wasn't shutting down events. For alumni/casuals/students it severely limits ability to enjoy.
The Honda Center was great. The 2012 final saw over 7500 people. I know that might not look great in the Honda Center, but was pretty electric environment against UCSB.
The ACC was dated but had all the proximity advantages of being in Anaheim and near Disney, things to do, etc.
Oceanside (was more appealing with UCSD) or Palm Springs (golf before games!!!) are a reachable drive to their new arenas, and each has different appeal with other things to do. If only LB Arena update was more geared toward sports. It has perfect location with proximity to schools/hotels/restaurants/waterfront, but those old seats and layout never looked great on tv.
I just don't see myself spending the money to go to Henderson. I'll watch on tv. Previous Message
Since the BW tourney rarely draws more than 6 to 7K fans, and there is no small neutral court arena in SoCal, Henderson is probably the least expensive option for the tourney. I suppose the TV rights bring in more $$ than attendance receipts. It is pretty sad that we haven't made the tourney in two years. Is being top 8 in the BW standings too much to ask? Previous Message
