It brings more home games for each team that can't afford bringing in better buy games, which is basically everyone now that Hawaii is gone.
Still think a scheduling agreement with another basketball only conference would benefit all parties (I'm looking at you WCC). The travel to the other conferences is tougher, but the Big Sky/Summit and the SoCon/Big South do it currently. The WCC just makes too much sense minus the current bad blood of poaching teams.
I know Butterly had talked of looking for more opportunities, but really what is left for teams to join? There really aren't D2 that would add anything but cost/travel, and the next teams would be if Big Sky members lose football (looking at you Portland State), or are in Texas or further.

With 12 members for 2026/2027, 22 conference games make sense as UCSD and UCSB don't depart until 7-1-27, and we add CBU, Sac St, and Utah Valley.
The Big West in 2026/2027:
1. LB
2. CSUN
3. Fullerton
4. Cal Poly
5. UCI
6. UCR
7. UCSB (last year in BW)
8. UCSD (Last year in BW.
9. Bakersfield
10. Sac St.
11.CBU
12. Utah Valley
It will be more expensive to leave the BW now, as the withdrawal fee has been increased from 1.5 million dollars to 5 million dollars.
Hawaii and Davis are gone for next season, except that Hawaii will compete in the BW for volleyball.
Unless the BW adds another school, the conference will have 10 members in the 27/26 season.
