1 year reload is not sustainable without cash, luck, or darn good coaching and talent evaluation. Mid Majors should push for 2-3 year contracts with buyout options similar to soccer system where lower teams actually see benefit from developing players. 5 years for 5 seasons is a joke with free transfers. It adds fuel to academic groups who hate athletics.
If I'm in charge, 4 years for 4 seasons, no redshirt, no pros of any kind, sorry Europeans. I'd even eliminate medical years. After injury in the pros, you get access to medical staff/rehab until you sign with another team or the rehab is done.
1 transfer, I'd even say no grad school as we saw how the SEC QB a few years ago didn't even know what grad classes made him eligible, or know what his grad degree was in.
Stop the nonsense summer school classes necessary to workout in summer unless an athlete voluntarily wants to take a summer school class to lessen workload in the year.

Yes in all fairness I saw some obvious changes on the sideline last year, mostly he wasn't angrily barking all the time and while his sub patterns were better, he still seemed to have a yank em until they learn attitude.
The team was a little more cohesive but needs to be a lot more, and that is part of what gives me hope this time around, Acker seems to have filled the cupboard with a higher potential cohesiveness factor (just my guess based on looking into each new signed player and their social media and reports on them).
While well balanced and I think fairly deep, we don't have much DI proven talent, if any really. That is a big concern but understandable, we can't whip out the NIL checkbook and offer a guy like Sykes $1.5 million. What a joke the last few years have been in college hoops!

I talk to Coach Ack now and then, and I do think that he is changing his ways and is learning on the job. I will be very interested to see how this years plays out. We will see what happens!!!

I think Acker is set in his coaching ways, but I am pretty sure he's looking at this year as a make or break year for being at least a mid tier BW team. I think he has the squad that can get him there, by no means are there any superstars although McCaden could be all BW 2nd team material.
Acker has to know that the pressure is on. He has another bomb out of a year, no one will have confidence in him. With the newer xfer rules, he might be able to retain half the returnees, but not the good ones they will bail out.
I don't see MBB resolving anytime soon. Acker does not seem to be the solution. We would need a special HC to lead the way, a competitive NIL budget, and lots of support. I don't see it right now, but maybe this GM can shift the culture some.

I am hoping that he can teach Acker how to win games.
