I can't believe it's June already. A couple more weeks and I will be off on Arctic trip. I am looking forward to it and wonder how it will compare to my Antarctic trip - that was 10 yrs ago.
Mr D will go into kennels. the same ones he has gone to since he was a pup AND, bye the way Mr D will be ( yrs old this month whew. He still thinks he is a pup
Hope you are all keeping well and all the furries are especially well too.Cats are like Potato Chips - you can't have just one
Fun things you have to look forward to in June! Take pics!!
It's been a very busy month for me. In good ways. It started with Dave's parents 65th wedding anniversary party May 5. Then so many other get togethers. Seems I go out with someone in a daily basis. Was my birthday and still am celebrating, another friend took me out today. Been lots of fun. Lots of lunches, several trips to casinos, got together with friends in from Florida etc. Very busy!!
In addition we're upgrading the house. Had our fireplace torn out and replaced with a new one, still not completed yet... they ordered one wrong thing. And next week all new windows going in the front room too. Eight of them. Got lots more projects I need to do but need to finish one thing at a time. Again, busy busy.
My eyes have somewhat improved the last few weeks. That's wonderful and incredible! They are still not normal, but I came a Long way from where I was last July. For anyone who didn't know, I've been having extreme inflammation issues and swollen orbits on my eyes. I've been through the ringer with all sorts of tests, all sorts of doctors and specialists. And had a major delicate surgery to biopsy my lacrimal gland and check things out behind the eye. They found nothing, no cancer. But don't know what the cause of the inflammation is. I basically laid in bed for months but now I can live like a normal person, though they still fluctuate better and worse on days. Sorry this is so long. But good news I feel like after a year I am seeing some improvement. Don't know why though.
And...The cats are all doing really good! Even our three seventeen year olds. We lost Buffy in January due to mouth cancer and I haven't needed to take anyone in since "knock on wood". Seems like a record. We only have 10 cats now.
We do feed all the wildlife and we have many visitors daily. Our cat food bills are the same as when we had 30 cats cause we put out a lot for them (raccoons, possum, skunk) If they went to the mink farm 2 doors away, he puts food in traps and kills what goes in including cats. I'd rather they eat here and be safe. Soon they'll bring their babies around, usually June/July sometime.
Nice to hear how everyone is doing. I hope everyone continues to feel well, and things get better for those that don't. And may all your fur babies stay well too!
Here's a pic of our neighborhood friends. ☺️ Also we have a few stray cats coming. They eat too and all wildlife and them get along fine. But my days of bringing in everything I see has ended. I'm getting older. Problem is when you feed you attract things. 😟 At least they are fed well here.
Loosing Easton was the worse experience since loosing the others some years back this year. He declined so quickly it was so hard to believe. I was and still am struggling with my own health issues now compounded by financial woes. I spent every last thing I had on Easton in the passing months hoping for the best which looked like he was going to make it then the last week of it all he just got profoundly worse.
I am not getting anymore simply because I have no idea what is in store for me in the coming months. It would not be fair or safe to take in any more furkids till I get back on my feet again. I am a conundrum of health issues and it's aggravating to say the least. Not enough to put me in a disability point (at least not yet) but it's a struggle while still having to work.
Things could be worse I get it but I wish I had a few less problems I have. It's frustrating to find yourself suddenly not the same person you where a few years ago in such a short time.
I hope all of you and your furkids are safe and well. "It takes a bigger man to admit he loves cats than most men who would not".
"They are still here, in my heart; Nyl-Lynn,April,Goldie,Sugar,Pepper,Ninja,Red,Sammi,Misti,Ms Gray,Buddy and now Easton"
We had a late start to spring in my area and now everything is taking off at once! I need to get my garden in soon. I'm getting tired of keeping all my tomato pots watered. I'm having a bit of a problem with my two new Bengal girls wanting to chase one of my other cats. She was the leader of the pack before the new additions, so I don't know if she gave them attitude or what, but now she runs from them and they, of course, give chase. She has "safe" spots through-out the house where they don't bother her but to get to them is the problem.
Enjoy your trip, Sheila...it sounds wonderful! I went backpacking in Alaska in the summer and it was great. I loved all the daylight!!
I've been trying to keep up with my knee exercises post knee replacement, but a painful catching in one knee had me back to the doctor last week. Turns out I've formed some scar tissue on the back of one kneecap (something he's seen happen less than 10 times in all the years he's been doing knee replacements - I guess I'm special!) so I'm scheduled to go back in to get the scar tissue removed.
He says it should only keep me away from my horseback riding for a couple of weeks, but darn it! I've been working so hard to even GET to this point! And it's finally summer!
But I'm trying to be optimistic - that in the long haul this still has me better off than I was before.
And by the way, have you ever tried to do a set of knee exercises (leg lifts and such) with cats crawling all over you? Let me tell you, it really adds to the challenge! (Then there's the experience of hanging your straightened leg over an empty space - meant to make sure you maintain full extension - but it still hurts to do - and suddenly a cat decides that's just a SPIFFY spot to hop up onto! Oh my - gotta love 'em!)
Gotta love those physica therapists who are cats...LOL...nm

I hope it feels better soonb. My daughter had a knee replacement a couple of years ago and it is still giving her pain. HOWEVER< her problems were caused by a bad accident way back 20 odd yrs ago - she had all leg bones broken, pelvis smashed and ankle too. her ankle is now totally arthritic but wasn't giving as much pain as the knee, when the Dr asked if she wanted her knee in the same alignment as it was or whether she would prefer it in alignment ready for when she has to have the ankle replacement - she chose the new alignment and I think that is why she still has pain. Cats are like Potato Chips - you can't have just one
I think she made the right choice, but I'm wondering how much longer before she's going to do the ankle replacement? My knees both got "re-aligned" - straightened (I had become somewhat "knock-kneed" over the years - apparently not an uncommon occurrence) and in the time between Knee 1 and Knee 2 I had some pain not just in the knee, but also my hips and lower back as I had a bit of a "hitch" in my step to account for the mismatch between my two legs. Once the second knee got done and re-aligned to match the first, things got better.
Funny story about that - the morning after my second surgery, when my doctor came in to check on me, I told him I thought I was taller. He said that I was probably just imagining things as that was highly unlikely.
Well, a month ago I had to go in to my regular doctor for something, and I asked them to measure my height while I was in there. And guess what? I'm an inch taller!
I told my knee doctor at the appointment last week and reminded him that he'd said I was probably just imagining things, and he just laughed and said "Well, I believe you now!".
I hope your daughter can get that ankle done soon and that it will help with her ongoing pain!
what you are going through, Pat! I haven't had a knee replacement but did tear my ACL, PCL and meniscus seven years ago. I would cringe anytime the cats came near my knee. That is also when I had to stop allowing them in my bedroom when I slept for fear of them jumping on my leg.
I don't do as much horseback riding now but the bike riding and swimming really help.
Right after the surgeries . . . .

I have one of those little square four-legged plastic stepstools, and I would set it over my knee in bed before going to sleep. They could walk over me all they wanted and I never had to worry about them walking on my scar.
I need to get my bike serviced and start riding it again. Swimming is good, too - but it's such a pain dealing with the hair (mine is too long to fit under a swim cap).
The girls are fine, Ziba is doing well with only 3 teeth in her mouth, Mira has decided to become a chatty Cathy. Still volunteering with the SPCA, and we are getting busy with kitten season now...lots of littles to cuddle and socialize...
