so he hasn't been out running for almost a week. I have no idea what was wrong. He just wouldn't put it to the floor. He has done this twice in the past but both time it was a little swollen and slightly hot. I felt everywhere! up and down his leg, in betweeen his toes, his nails his pads (looking for grass seeds). Anyway I found some Mexacam in the animal medicine cupboard - he's had three doses and now he seems fine so off we go for his run in about 20 mins.

Always busy here. Still have the kittens, nit sure what we're doing. Dave still wants to find them homes. I tend to agree but its hard to let go.

Noticed recently they may have had fleas. Im working on it and it's not too bad, but even one is too many for me. I may have to put Revolution on them, but scared of side effects. But i may have no choice. I havent had fleas in 40 years, il not real thrilled about it. Thank God these are seperated downstairs. I hope my cats all stay ok.

Im still dealing with my eyes, im getting used to it. But dont understand why they cant figure it out snd fix it. I get dizzy sometimes too.

Cats are all fine thankfully.

We’ll vr empty nesters soon, Everett got an apartment. He moves next week.

Hope things are well by you. Give Mr D a hug from me.

I’ve been dealing with “something” for a year and a half now. Been through so many tests, ct scans, ultrasound, major eye surgery to check if it was cancerous. Seen so many different doctors. You name them, i saw them. Still have the issue. I perdonally think the eyes are a sympton not the problem. Im going to see an endocynologist next. Maybe a hormone or gland is not working. And weird thing I hate doctors, i never see them. Til this started. And now i know why, they dont know anything.

Im sorry to hear about your hand. What happened? I hope its all better and easy to rehab once the cast gets off. No horde riding for you for awhile. I’d like to rent onr now that we dont have any, but i get dizzy. Can’t.

I have to solve these fleas. Any experience with that??

I was leading my horse through the barn when a piece of equipment fired up suddenly and unexpectedly. He spooked sideways, jerking my arm straight across behind my back and causing a radial fracture of the ulna. So yeah - no horse riding for a while.

I've only had to deal with fleas once, and it was a long time ago, so I don't remember the names of all the products I used (maybe Frontline on the cats?), but I know I found a premise spray for all the edges and cracks that killed or arrested development of different life stages of the fleas.

Then I got some food-grade diatomaceous earth and put it in a shaker can (like you'd use for powdered sugar) and dusted it into the carpeting all around the house. Let that sit for a bit (maybe 2 weeks - I don't recall exactly) before doing a good vacuuming.

I don't recall how long it took to get rid of them completely, but I always figured with the residual diatomaceous earth in the carpeting, it was probably a very inhospitable environment for the little buggers!

Sorry this is late, and sorry about your arm! Yikes! Those things happen though. You never know with a horse. Hope it heals quick and well.

Well, on the flea front I think I got it licked. I vacumned and shampooed the carpet 3x in a week. And gave the cats Capstar (which will kill all fleas on cats for 24 hours). I gave that 2x and am going to give once more tomorrow...I just shampooed the 3rd time today. I haven't seen any fleas since the last carpet cleaning and capstar. But just want to be ultimately sure. So thankfully this was resolved in a week! I just had to do something. Hated the topical meds, cause they can cause real issues if swallowed, and these guys clean each other all the time.

I think we're keeping them. I gave up asking for homes. Never really tried that hard anyway.

In terms of severity compared to what caused the injury, it seems like ours should be reversed!

Isn't it astonishing how everything can change in an instant?

Still, looking back on that day, I really don't feel like there's anything I should have done differently (even though I've run into people at the barn who seem to feel free to imply that what happened was "my fault".)

Hubby went in for a ct scan and they found a mass at the head of his pancreas...I worried myself sick....He had an endoscopy done and the Dr. said it was a cyst she ruptured it and sent it off for biopsy to be sure it came back no cancer but she wants to see him again later this month to talk to him so we still don't know what it is she needs to talk about guess I will worry a little more.......Spencer is better and eating good he needs to put on some weight now....I hope all is well with you....

I had my doctor's appointment last week and hoped the cast would come off, but no such luck - three more weeks.

(Well, two more, as of today.)

I tried to be pretty philosophical about it the first 5-1/2 weeks, but for some reason, hearing that last week was particularly hard to take.

Trying to do everything one-handed (and LEFT-handed, at that) is getting old fast. (Of course, Kira makes a point of reminding me that cat-petting works just as well with a left hand as with a right!)

I fell and broke my right wrist in 3 places and fractured my arm. I had surgery 9/11.. it is a slow recovery and a very expensive mistake.

My next appointment is in a week and a half. If the cast doesn't come off for good at that point, I swear I'll throw myself myself off a tall building head first! (It will be 8-1/2 weeks then).

How is the brace? Much better than the cast, I would hope. Does it cover less area? (I'm pretty sure I'm getting a bruise on my elbow where it rests on the cast which really hurts at times, but I just have to tolerate it for a little more than another week, and then hopefully I'll get some relief).

Have they got you in physical therapy to regain your movement?

have a full cast, just a half one since I had a plate and pins holding the bones together.
The therapy people are supposed to call next week.
I can't bend my wrist or straighten my fingers. this has been an ordeal.

I don't know what goes into the decision on pinning vs cast. And I don't know which one would have been easier (if either!).

I do know my doctor debated it aloud for a moment or two before deciding on a cast, and I was still too freaked out over the whole thing to ask him any questions about it.

They did put me in what is called a "Munster cast" - it goes from my elbow to up around the space between my thumb and forefinger, then they cut out a piece at the elbow leaving a "wing" on either side. This allows me to flex my elbow, although not to straighten it fully, and it prevents me from rotating my forearm. I've tried to make a point of flexing and straightening my fingers repeatedly throughout the day, but even with that, I've felt them growing gradually stiffer over the weeks.

I don't even want to think about what my wrist is going to feel like when the cast finally comes off for good!

was really mangled,there was no way to put the bones back in place with out surgery.

My doctor said moving the fingers and making a fist is a good start for the therapy to come.

O that is such a nuisance msg

I do hope that the time will pass quickly till the cast comes off and that you will get full use back SOON.

and if not for the fact that last month Ziba licked some and went through the frothing mouth stuff, I have had no problems. But now Ziba remembers the smell of the stuff and this time gave me the stink eye for two days, until it all sank in and she could not smell it...gotta say when I combed her, what came off were 2 fleas on their deathbed...not many on the floor now and she is beginning to use the floor to get around again...Mira still hops around, but that will change.

Are the fleas still picking on you?

If so, have you tried a premise spray or bomb? (one that goes after the juvenile life stages of the flea is supposed to work the best).

Another thing people try is food-grade diatomaceous earth (lots of info online if you Google it).

It is dropping off...I think we are getting through the life cycle of the flea, there are less...nm
