Sad day for me....msg

I took Carlos in cause he looked pretty bad, I thought I let his teeth go too long, cause this weekend he just went downhill so much. Dehydrated, not eating, etc.

Took him in today and they did bloodwork, urine, and he is in major kidney failure. He's not that old, going to be 13 in September. So it's not his teeth. He's been declining for a while, but did ok.

This weekend Dave's dad went into hospital, he is 87. He's home now but we're not out of the woods yet. But he is doing much much better. But we were there from Thursday to Sunday in Chicago.
We had to get him there and home, and take Dave's mom to visit. She's 85 and can't get around well.

Lot going on. I hate the thought of losing Carlos. I was afraid I cause his problem from not taking him in for his teeth, but the vet said kidney failure has nothing to do with it. Glad I wasn't the cause, but very sad that there's no cure. He said to put him to sleep, but I couldn't. I got him fluids and he's home. But I know we'll be taking him back soon.

Keep Carlos in your prayers.

err paws full! It is like that, things happen all at once! I hope you husband’s Dad is comfortable at home and stays that way for a long time! Also it is hard to have a furred one have health issues, especially the kind one cannot go away!
Please take care of yourself to be able to deal with it all. Sometimes it appears as if one cannot cope with one more issue!!! Take care and be good to yourself also!!!!

I am so sorry, like you say Carlos is not that old but sometimes they just fail. Enjoy him for as long as he has left. Sorry to hear about Dave's dad - is it serious? I hope things get better for you all soon.

When we took him, but we didn’t know at time. We brought him in for major diarreha that went on for a week. But once there they put him in the cardiac unit cause his heart rate was erratic (it is anyway but nit as bad), and...it was very very low. Sometimes in the 20s! But they got that stable snd he’s home now. But they want to recheck him. Looks like we’re going to have to help them a lot now. His leg got bad with this or right before this. He can’t drive. Leg too weak to walk down stairs.
Dave retires this week. Maybe life accommodates. Not sure how it would be if he didn’t. They are over an hour a way in Chicago. We lived in Chicago for years, but we hate it there now. Crazy drivers, crowded etc. but we do what we must.

Right now my stress is about Carlos. I should have let him go yesterday. He’s more alert today after the fluids, but I don’t see him getting over this. Just like the vet said. He’s not eating, Hates syringing. Not sure if I should take him for more fluids. It will make it harder to take him for the final trip if he’s more alert. We’ll probably let him go either today or tomorrow. I dread it. 😥

We all have things to deal with. Sometimes really hard, difficult and unwanted things!! Yes, I have known my share. One has to deAl with their feelings, the issues at hand and try to just keep on living. Sometimes it is unpleasant or uglyy is hospital at 9AM again!! But one me must just keep on going! I try to not drag others down with me....not a nice thing to do!! Yet we do need each other!
I am here with and for those I know along with those I am not so familiar with!! After all we have the bond of being kitty lovers!! That is a special bond.
Gentle hugs take care. Love on your kitties and human families!!!! Also friends!! All help us enjoy the fun and deal with the rest!!!!
