I suspected something gut related when weight stalled, more tummy gas, itchy skin, sinus congestion. I did a stool test right away and saw the yeast – actually in the “normal” category, however it had never came up before and I think it is (as Hope mentioned) a big deal for CF. (The test also showed low Ph and inflammation .) The test came with susceptibilities: (by the list you can see most common remedies) Prescriptive Agents: Fluconazole – resistant Itraconazole, ketoconnazole, nystatin – sensitive Natural Agents: Oregano, Tanalbit – resistant Berberine, caprylic acid, goldenseal, undecylenic acid, uva ursi – sensitive I started caprylic acid, MTC, 3 different probiotics and a really strict diet (little sugar, bread, fruit). (I was so surprised because we are generally on a anti-yeast diet anyway) after 5 weeks the results barely changed. I was so disappointed – although I should have known because symptom didn’t change much either…Then I switched to grapefruit seed extract and lauric acid and after a couple of more weeks weight started to climb again. So I guess I am trying to give an idea on how tricky yeast can be. We (my ND and I ) were surprised that the caprylic acid didin’t seem to help. Who knows? Generally for yeast I think garlic, pau d’arco, green plants for their chlorophyll, kelp & seaweed, citrus seed extract are all generally considered helpful. A favorite reference book is Healing with Whole Foods by Paul Pitchford. I also added an enzyme specific to breaking down yeast. I am learning about enzymes right now. I never knew that enzymes have the power to break down yeast, bacteria, virus. Another read…MicroMiracles by Dr. Ellen Cutler -We actually met with her so I’ll keep you all posted… |
