My son's first culture at 12months grew staph and haemophilus. He did not have any symptoms at the time, so we did not treat with antibiotics, and they were gone by his next culture at 17 months. However, this cultured non-mucoid PA, which cleared with cipro and tobi. We started oral GSH at 20 months. He started coughing at 23 months, cultured staph. So we started inhaled GSH. The cough disappeared quickly, without antibiotics. He is now 25 months old. It's too early to say what difference the GSH is making, but he is generally very well. I am hoping to avoid antibiotics as much as possible. The impression from our clinic is that they are only really essential for PA cultures. I'd be interested to hear what others think about that.
