Re: Thoughts on this 35th Anniversary
The film of this dreadful accident is one of my earliest memories - mum and dad weren't too sure if I should be watching such a distressing film but today I've nearly clocked up 20 years as a Flight Attendant. The crash is detailed at our training centre as part of human and crew resource training and management (CRM) - which my original airline TAA were the first in the world to introduce. I honestly believe that the lessons learnt from this accident, the heroism of the crew like Beverly Raposa and the lessons we continue to learn have saved thousands of lives - the legacy of Eastern 401 continues - a great memorial. And to Beverly - I lost a friend on 9/11, he was a FA on AA11 - but through this awful tragedy there is always some good - you make me proud of my profession - and through you I remember Jeff and all the other crew who have lost their lives in our industry. I hope one day our paths will cross so I can say thank you for what you have done for me - and no doubt countless others. Because of your actions that horrible night you inspired my career and I have never looked back. With warmest regards from Australia, Neil
