IF, you are a true desendantof our Capt. then I am very sorry for your lack of contact with this man. From what I remember of him @ the age of 11 he was a kind and quiet man. As a kid aboard his flight, I remember him making anouncements concerning the weather in Miami being lots better than what we left behind in New York, he also made a point to reference when we passed over Ellis Island as a point of entry into the U.S. for the thousands of immigrants who had crossed the Atlantic on ocean greyhounds such as the Queen Mary, and the United States. He seemed particularly interested in the SS> United States, for I remember him saying and I quote " And due to the advancements in commercial aviation it is sad to agknowlage the demise of the trans-atlantic liners" This is all I remember of our Captain, sad to say, but I was only 11.5 yrs old, and had no idea that my last night of being a kid was 12-29-72. I truly belive that we all changed that night. Thank God for that helicopter that landed and lifted those of us in peril to saftey
