God bless your grandfather. It may interest you to know that he was very well thought of at United Airlines as well. Whenever a crash happens, it sends shockwaves through the industry, and the flight crews mourn their brothers and sisters, regardless of the airline. I knew several people at Eastern during my tenure at United and all of them confirmed that the "ghost stories" are true. I absolutely believe them, for one reason in particular: many United employees claim that the 737 fleet is haunted by the ghost of Captain Harold Green, another outstanding pilot, who died on March 3, 1991, on United Flight 585 near Colorado Springs. I flew with Captain Green three times before his death; he cared so much for aviation and the passengers, it would make sense that he would try to do the same in the afterlife. Same goes for your grandfather. God bless him, and you, and all of the souls aboard Eastern 401.
