Preferred listening order is an interesting topic too. I think for most bands, if you want to become first acquainted with them, it's best if you listen chronologically given some reasonable starting point and ending.

For instance, suppose you've heard of, idk, Genesis, then it might be better to start with Nursery Cryme than with Foxtrot even if the latter is a better album. Actually, I thought NC was more appealing than Foxtrot on first listen when first encountering it when I was about 15 y/o. Sometimes earlier albums are a bit simpler and more accessible than the later ones. I recall thinking the weird rhythm of Watcher of the Skies not being as immediately captivating as Musical Box.
