Re: Favorite 1990s album
My personal favorite is The Pod by Ween even though that's not a popular choice. It sort of documents being a stoner kid in high school, hanging out with your friends and laughing at random things. Take a song like 'Right to the Ways and Rules of the World', where with limited means they so convincingly emulate some pompous prog piece, the vocals becoming more unhinged every minute and the lyrics becoming more ungrammatical, only for them to burst out into cathartic laughing and talk out the rest of the song. It wouldn't stand up on its own, but if you place it next to a bunch of other songs that are all successful parodies or genius amateurism you end up a cohesive effort.
