Re: I haven't read what Tony Kaye has said about the work
He didn't need to say it, it's in the song. He literally samples Bush at the beginning of Hope And Triumph saying that they're fighting the War On Terror to protect "inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." That is something within the song that gives the instrumental track context, along with the title. There's just no other way to take it with that there.
I talked about this with another friend who I listened to the album with, and he reminded me - I forgot that in all of the "war march" type tracks, Tony Kaye has generic Arabic chanting in the background. Hard to ignore the implications of that, as well.
There are many things about this album that are in bad taste. It doesn't matter that they're instrumental - Tony Kaye provides context with the concept of the album and with the way he presents some of the tracks.
