We are not getting any younger, time waits for no one.
It seems like it was only yesterday.
In 1966, I was on the Rifle Range on Camp Pendelton, California.
Teaching Marine recruits, the principles of marksmanship.
On or around the last of August of 1966.
I got orders for a second tour in Vietnam.
This time, I knew what awaited.
I did a lot of physical training.
Because I knew, one would lose a lot of weight.
Due to the ungodly heat in Vietnam.
On my last day of leave, one of my younger sisters.
Started to cry, little did she know.
I was crying inside.
Well, I survived, and times I wonder why.
Maybe, so I could be here for all these new veterans.
To tell them, what we went through and what not to do.

It must be forged, tested and used.
It must be passed down.
And woven into the very fabric of our souls.
Until it becomes our nature."
