It's taken me a while to be brave enough to reach out.
It took me over six months to agree to go to the Civic Center to play Dominos... Yesterday I paid for my membership. Now that was a big step.... but these women and some of their husbands have reached out to me and when I told them I had joined they were happy I had.
I can't do any volunteer work right now as my eyes are a problem and I need to arrange for dentures. This has been a very trying almost three years.
I hope you can find someone to connect with that will help you reach out. Look to your church if there is no community group you can connect with.
Covid has caused so many of us to be isolated.
My son hasn't been able to help me much at all as he has been ill or working wih his wife. Plus they are down to one vehicle now - a truck to pick up huge boxes for shipping to the Phillipines. He drives alone to Houston twice a week with a huge trailer. If I see him or them it is for no more then 15 minutes or so once a month.
I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers as I know how hard it is to reconnect to what used to be a normal life. My joining the Civic Center Membership has taken me months of building up enough courage - especially dealing with arthritis of my neck for over 2 years that ER Doctors and even my Dr has called stress.
I am so grateful for the UPS drivers and others drivers as they make sure to not just drop off packages, but they always have a kind word with me.
I had actually been stuffing plastic Easter Eggs with candy last week at the Civic Center. There were men and women and it was fun. I've never had a lot of friends. I always worked long hours. Now I am letting myself be draged out of my solitude.
Have a lovely Easter week and find something outside of your home to do.
Keeping you in my prayers.
