I don't remember who told me that someone in Austin neighborhood wanted to give him away. This was when I lived at BOR.
I drove to Austin in my van and luckily none of the other BAZARS were with me. The van broke down and I had to have it towed back to BOR.
The AAA guy was scared of dogs so I had to sit in the middle with Austin sitting by the door. He loved it. I don't think he was out of the house much.
He was a very gentle dog and people who drove next to the AAA Van were startled to see his head sticking out the window. Remember his head was huge. There were some little old ladies who drove next to thevan so they could enjoy him.
It was over an hour and 1/2 ride home but we made it home. I kept him on a leash as he was introduced to all the other dogs. He became the low dog on the totem pole. His only problem was he was afraid of our riding lawmower and tractors terrified him. We lived in between Cattle land (our backyard) and grain fields (our front yard).
He adapted and lost weight and when we lost BOR he and all the Bazars went to MN with us. He and Blue both made it back to the age of 17 and Blue died first then Austin, They were close buddies and died in MN.
As for the rest of the BAZARS - Blue was dropped off at BOR soon after we moved there. He was only weeks old and had a slice in his skin large enough for my hand to slip inside. He was got along with Tasha and Tinkerbelle both CALIF pet rescues from when I worked in CUlver City. and became the leader of my PACK!
Julip was next and she was a mixed breed who was running down the main road in Elgin. I opened my car door and grabbed her by the scruff of her neck and took her home. She was a puppy not an adult.
She and Tasha my lab from my CA, LA shelter were RUN DOWN by hunters who veered off the road to intentionally hit them - this was on different days and I was in the driveway and chased the trucks down the road both times. Tasha was killed first. I wished I had been able to get a hold of those creeps.
Anyway, my next dog was Blue --- before Julip was run down. They became best pals. He was a natural cattle dog and was one of the smartest dogs I have ever had.
The next dog was Red... you remember the huntng dog with cancer. He wandered in to my yard and that was it. I loved him and watched he die when he had to be put to sleep. He was a beautiful dog white with red patches.
Next my neighbor with a horses had gone to town - an hour away from where we all lived - and had two puppies follow her truck home. She had to drive up our road to get to her home so stopped and the two puppies stayed with me. They were brother and sister - the female was a golden mix and the brother was a sheapard mix. For the life of me I can't remember what their other half of them were. Fluffy yellow fur. It will come to me later.
They did every thing together except Miz Zeke would take off and then come back later in the day. There was goverment land which she ran to.
The next dog was Weenie... the pure bread my mind is gone... will have to post their breeds later.
Anyway he had been hangingout near my drs office which was on the main truck road between two county towns. They had tried to catch him but no go. He was very young. Black and the vet told me pure from what he could tell.
I did another "Julip catch" and drove down the highway opened my door and grabbed him. Julip was on the same road area only going East on the highway. Weenie was going North on the road that met up with the road Julip had been on.
I had more rescues - usually drop offs by ny neighbors. I will come back and repost the breeds I have forgotten.
They all went to MN with us. The only dog that didn't was a large male purebread Lab, that belonged to a rancher down the road, the lab followed my Exh every where. The rancher gave him to exh. When Exh was out running and wasjust at the top of our hill the dog jumped in front of a car that would have hit the Exh. The driver stopped and apologized. But SAMMY - rememberd - was dead. The driver admitted he had been speeding. And agreed that is Sammy hadn't jumped in front of his car at the top of our hill - he might had hit both Sammy and exh.
Oh Alex and Miz Zeke were their names but I have to let their breeds come back to me.
Ok Charlie needs to go out, I need to feed the birds & squirrels. it's 7:30 am and NO SUNRISE.
Have a good one thanks for the memories now to remember their breeds.
