I need it for Hira. She is still having an ever-so-slight, but noticeable problem with her back hips.
As I was telling Paten, I used to give glucosamine and chondroitin, and then later on added MSM to the mix. I got great results with them, even when my dog had a real problem develop, such as Beyorne did.
Hira definitely needs something, and I don't think that it would hurt Krypto, now that he's 2, to have some joint support, considering his breed and size.
Normally, over the years, I got each supplement separately, but this time I got a combination supplement, to see how I like it.
It's Cosequin. People seem to like it, and I didn't mind the ingredients, compared to some other brands. The ingredients are:
Glucosamine Hydrochloride 600 mg, Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate 300 mg, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) 250 mg, Manganese (Manganese Ascorbate) 3 mg. Other Ingredients: Brewers dried yeast, dextrose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, flavors, and silicon dioxide.
I've seen better, and I've seen much worse. Of the easily available ones, this was the best ingredients list. If, after the 2 months these will last, I have found something better, I can always switch.
These came in 250 tabs, 132 tabs, and 60 tabs. The price is a bit better as you get more, but, I don't want to spend a lot from my May budget, and am also only trying these out.
I thought about going for the 132, but they offered 50% off one of the bottles if you bought 2 60-count bottles. With that discount, it was less to buy the 2 6o-count bottles, giving me 120, or 2 months for 2 dogs. It would have been $32. with tax, and no shipping on Prime, for 120.
However, at checkout, there was an additional deal if I signed up for every 2 months autoship, which is how often I'd need it.
I decided to go with that, and cancel the autoship if I decide to. That deal took me from $32. for 120 pills, to $22. for 120 pills, counting tax.
The reviews were pretty good on this, and it's a chewable tablet, which means ease of giving it every day. Krypto, at least, is used to taking chewable tablets, so unless it tastes strange - which people in the reviews didn't say was the case, I'm sure that he'll take it. Hira will eat anything that you hand her, scarily.
Btw, I tried to say a similar name, like Lira, just to see if it would work, and she acted like I hadn't spoken. I said her name correctly, and she whipped her head around, trotted up to me wagging her tail, and waited to see what I wanted. Well, so much for changing her name ever, even if I wanted to. It's still causing Uhura some confusion, so I am basically using the 'girl' designation unless I am training or Uhura's not around.
Well, I'll let you know how it goes with the brand. Have a great day!
