It's 2:45am and I have been awake since my Weather alert went off at 1am. Plus I have my weather app on my phone so I can see when the "storm" will hit. The front of the storm is long stretching north to south from Austin to SA at an angle so that we were in the front and mid center of it.
Charlie and I have been awake since the weather alert went off at 1am. I had moved all my plants inside by the front door until the storm is over.
I have also been watching the weather guys on our local station..... so far there was over a 1000 lightening stikes in minutes. That is now down to 600 or less as the storm front moves across this area.
It was a very loud strike overhead that had us both alert. Since we were both awake it wasn't loud enough for us to respond to the noise.
But the one Lightening strike that struck right over the house had Charlie's body lifting at least 3 inches off the bed. I had to burst out laughing as it really startled him. To be honest, I did jump a bit myself, but nothing like Charlie did. It was a horrendous noise. One of the loudest ones tonight. More like the ones we have had in the past few storms.
Poor Charlie - I have never seen him fly like that before. His whole body lifted up with his face looking towards the windows... then once his body landed back on the bed he turned his head to stare at me. Poor Charlie, but then I had also been shocked by the sound and had been jumped a bit myself.
I comforted him and we have since been listening to the storm which has been moving towards SA. The violence is slowly easing off. Plus we have both been awake since the storm reached us at 1am though Charlie had begun to doze off just before the lightening strike.
It seems there are always a few really violent Lightening strikes here. We are in the hill country. With every storm there is always some very loud ones over my house. But this is the first one that Charlie actually seemed to rise up above the bed. I laughed at both of us but to see a dog fly.. was an amazing sight. He had been curled up by my feet and if I had not been looking at him I would have missed his reaction.
He now weighs 70 lbs and to see that mass rise up was amazing. I won't forget the sight ever.
So we have gotten a lot of rain... but not enough to fill the lake. Plus I learned a new fact about the lake... it leaks for there is a "fault" under it. Holy moly.... that is not comforting information. I had though that I was safe from quakes but apparently not. 8-(
Well having coffee - storm has lightened up some. It's just rain now., dripping off the roof. Oops! More thunder but not close.
There is now flash flooding... as we have had 3 inches of rain. Luckily living on a hill means the flooding is flowing down hill. The storms are not weaking but slowly moving off. Or rather circling high above the area. Some of the hill country has received 7 inches of rain. Our poor lake needs lots more then 3 inches. Hopefully the river northeast of the lake that feeds it may help ease the drought.
Ok no more news so I'm off to get some more sleep. Charlie is curled up in my spot. LOL.
Ta Ta till later.
