"I heard that you don't like fairies," Serna began, "I even heard that your Beholder once almost ate one of them. Why don't you like fairies?"
The dwarven woman raised an eyebrow at the child, "Magic brings trouble. This place to feed, entertain and let people sleep hence the sign behind me. No Magic Allowed. Two, you obviously haven't had and or heard of the bad blood between dwarves and elves. That includes the fae. The old magic is scary stuff. Just leave it be. Perhaps you should ask him yourself, young one."
"I can understand not allowing magic here," Serna admitted, "This is your place of business after all. But I didn't know you didn't like elves too. And yet you serve them meals and drinks every day. Why?"
"I tolerate their kind just I do any other race that comes to Asylum, my dear. If I did not, The Bronze Man would have a problem with me. Maybe you should ask the swordsman over there what the Underdark is, and what its like to live there."
The White Beholder floated out into the room and behind the bar, "Well, well, well, if isn't the Disturber of the Peace. Harharhar! Fairies taste really good and they're nice and juicy!"
"You eat them?!" Serna gasped, "Why? Do you eat them because they taste good or do you eat them just to be mean?"
"The ones here do. They taste REALLY good!" The aberration gave the shield maiden a toothy grin, "Any fairy stupid or curious enough to come here is fair game, would you agree?"
Caliaphy didn't move a muscle. She was literally mortified when the beholder came out.
