"Quicker than usual I must confess," War Scribe admitted with a mischievous grin, "But it was OH so worth it!" The Drowling looked wistfully into Death's eyes and gushed, "I think I'm in looooovvvveeee!"
Death rolled her eyes slowly at the Chronicler and sat down watching the whole scene in the Shadow Fell. The battle was intense as she watched it for a bit before continuing. "War Scribe, if your intention was to record the events here in the Shadow Fell, they would be omitted. Validor was specifically asked to erase this unsavory character from the Great Library."
"No kidding!" War Scribe shook her head in pure disbelief, "Why would he want to do that?! I mean, just look at him! Isn't he just the dreamiest hunk of evil you ever laid eyes upon?"
"Some beings are so evil that nothing sates their quest for ultimate power. The Shadow Man is one such being. Some time ago, I was asked to find a place where the Shadow Man was to be forgotten. The Shadow Fell, the realm of the dead. The funny thing is that the very place where I suggested he be placed and imprisoned happened to be there. What I didn't expect was that the Shadow Man was capable of such daring feats of siphoning the fell magic from the Black Gate. That gate links the Shadow Fell to the Hells, specifically to Orcus, the Demon Lord of the Undead." Death shook her head again.
War Scribe placed a comforting arm around Death's shoulder, "That's okay, Death! There is no way you could have known The Shadow Man would turn the Shadow Fell into his own personal playground. Don't be so hard on yourself! No one's perfect!"
Death turned to notice the Chronicler was different, "Oh boy. He got you good. Really good."
"Yes, he did!" War Scribe replied wistfully as she began to point out all of the spots on her body where The Shadow Man attacked her, "He got me here! And here! And here! And over there! And here too!"
"The bite from the Shadow Man isn't just vampiric, it drains knowledge from the victim regardless if they are mortal or immortal. If he escapes, he will find the Great Library and consume all the knowledge of the known universe. That would be bad and you'd be out of a job." Death crossed her arms with a heavy sigh.
"So what?!" War Scribe threw her arms around Death and gave her a comforting hug, "If I'm out of a job, then I would get to spend all my time with my favorite friend in the whole wide Realm! The Drowling gushed, "And that's you DEATH!"
"No." She deadpanned. "You would cease to be. Your counterpart would also vanish as would everyone else."
"WWWWOOOOOOWWW!!!" War Scribe gasped openly, "THE ULTIMATE WAY TO DIE!!! NON-EXISTENCE!!! COOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL!!!"
Death just shook her head.
"What?!" War Scribe held up her hands, "You make it sound like Death by non-existence is a bad thing!"
