Back in mid December, the Eagles dominated the steelers. All but clinching the nfc east. With 3 games remaining- philly had a 3 game lead on the commanders and held the tie breakers. The eagles needed 1 more win in the final 3 weeks to clinch the nfc east. Then, In that next game. 5 minutes in to the 2nd quarter. Hurts got concussed. Jalen Hurts didnt play another snap until the playoff game vs the packers. And- started the week of practice still in concussion protocol. Even with Kenny Pickett / Tanner Mckee playing qb. Philly won out. Absolutely shi stomping the cowboys- in Dallas.41-7 to clinch. With a practice squad qb running the show. Im not defending the Eagles. Not really. Im just saying. It was expected the eagles would likely struggle vs gb. Had GB been healthy. If Jordan love didnt impersonate Tavaris Jackson yesterday. This was the Eagles most vulnerable moment. Yet. The philly defense absolutely dominated the cheese. Coasting on offense to a 22-10 win that was even less close than the score suggests. True enough! The philly pass game was downright awful. But that defense! And a 120 yard day from saquan. 170 total rush yards at a 5.0 clip per. The packers knew all philly had on this day was a rushing game. And still couldnt shut it down. That philly defense shut down the Ravens back in week 13. Holding the leagues #1 offense to 19 points. Held the rams to 20. Bengals to 17. Held the playoff packers to 70 yards in 1st half. Snagging 2 ints. Sunday was the Eagles playoff wakeup call. In the past- they havent neccesarily awakaned with the alarm bell. But i wouldnt count on it. Philly does possess the best starting roster in the nfc. There isnt any glaring weakness. If there is a weakness. It is Jalen Hurts. Good Db play can shut down his passing ability. But, as you know. He can pick up plenty of 1st downs with his legs. The vikings meanwhile. Have played the Hurts led eagles Twice. Pretty much shlt stomped both times. In 22 & 23. Those were both before that saquan fells flew for philly. The last time the vikings saw Saquan. Minnesota was a 13-4 record division winner and a td favorite. Saquan had 14 touches for 110 yards. Including a 28 yard run & 24 yards swing pass. Breaking a half dozen arm tackles in the process. That was behind a crap giant line. Behind the eagles line? Hurts may not need to throw the ball! The one thing the vikings have going for them- should the matchup occur? Nobody takes the purple serious. The eagles, under siriani. Seem to overlook the opponents that the stat sheets suggest will be manhandled. Also- philly doesnt come with any special scheme. Cover 2 on D & power man blick scheme on O. They are a Bud Grant/ Denny Green squad. Confident that theyre roster can out-execute your roster. That mentality- " this is what we do, and you cant stop us"... Has led to more post season upsets that we can remember. Tonight vs Rams? Its the opposite. McVay is a chess master. Absolutely trounced the vikes via quick pass to Nakua. Vikes will scheme to stop that. Except, I think mcvays game plan will be run heavy early on. Spread the vikings out with 3&4 wr sets, draws to Kyren. Add in A long ball or 2 to Atwell/ Robinson/Kupp. Flores vs McVay. KOC vs Chris shula. Which defense can dictate the flow at the other offense wins this one. Good luck BF! Playing chess vs McVay has gotta be a heckuva long sleepless week. |
