Do you have access to the all 22 tape of these games? If so. Its worth checking out. Yes, Darnold looked bad. If you watch the all 22. Both Aaron Glenn and Shula had the right defense installed to shut down the Koc scheme. I talked about it a few weeks back. Teams caught up to koc. So? What does a top coach do? He redisgns his scheme. If the defense knows whats coming, you have to change whats coming. If you dont? It causes all of your weaknesses to get exposed. Like- aavg to poor offensive line. A qb that holds the ball an extra click. A non existent run game. The vikings- say what you will about talent. Should have been prepared for what detroit brought at them. And even moreso. What the rams were going to bring at them. They werent. The vikings were ill prepared. The game plans stunk. And as weve seen a bit too often. There wasnt any meaningful adjustment. Plan B was " execute your job better". Might as well have Brad Childress in charge if thats how KOC coaches. In the playoffs. In the big games like week 18. You have to expect the other team has your tendencies dialed in and your scheme disected. It is terrible coaching to just bring forth what youve always done and expect it to work. The rams & lions dbs were running the routes for the receivers. The O-line was constantly beaten to their spots. Call it Darnold throwing up if you will. Yet Vomit is usually caused by bad food or aviral infection. Kevin was a viral chef serving Darnold a sickened game plan. It was sickening to watch. That is for sure. I cant answer if KOC has plateaued? Or if he's still figuring it out. I do know he got schooled in weeks 18 & 19. Darnold is not without blame. But it was far more than qb play. |
