The '65 Twins were probably better. But come October, they ran up against Sandy Koufax in his prime. Dodgers took the series 4-3. Koufax starting 3 games.
The 65 twins knocked off the orioles to get to the ws. The 1966 orioles were as dominant a team as there was in the 60's. The 66 team was the same squad as the 65 team. And those orioles swept the 1966 Koufax led dodgers in 4.
Mlb historians suggested. The '65 series burned sandy's arm. 30 yr old Koufax retired after the '66 series. The yet invited TJ surgery could have saved his career that crashed due to chronic tendinitis in his left elbow. He pitched all of 66- 27-9 record using high doses of anti inflammatories.
Koufax remains the youngest (36) player ever elected to mlb hof. Nicknamed- "The left hand of God".
He's now 91. Alive and active in Vero Beach the long time spring home of the Dodgers.
My mom was a huge Koufax/Dodger fan
