Re: If I speak it- will it jinx it?

For me....baseball is so frustrating. I root for the Cubs so we ALWAYS have money but I have to watch Jed Hoyer make the same mistakes year after year after year. He refuses to sign bullpen pitchers to multi-year deals and the only free agent signings he will do are for guys who are coming off of injury or down year. And he sucks at drafting quality players. Again, he take high risk/high reward guys and gets burned almost every time. He's hoping to catch lightning in a bottle on a signing or two. But EVERY year the same thing happens.....they guys coming off injury get hurt and the guys coming off a down year are not very good. The only thing keeping the Cubs at .500 right now is their defense because their hitting is in a huge slump right now. Over the years, we've changed players, head coaches, hitting coaches, pitching coaches and we end up with the same results. Diehard fans say that the Rickets are tying Jed's hands but I don't buy that. We always spend a lot of money, but it's in the wrong places. I'm a trenches guy in football and a pitching/defense guy in baseball. To me, the runs will come when needed if you have smart baserunners and timely hitting. If you can field a strong pitching/defensive team you'll be in every game. My point is.....I feel like we have some of the same complaints about our teams but mine spends money and yours doesn't. The results seem to be similar.
