It kinda sucks from the development of players standpoint. But I was listening to a conversation somewhere in the the past couple days. I lose track now because of how much my sleeping has increased with the meds I'm on since the June cardiac thing.
Anyways. I think it was the Phillies broadcasters, which includes John Kruk. Talking about how greatly advanced the training is now from just 5 years ago. It's lead to a blossoming of young talent across most farm systems. Youngsters stepping in and finding success is more a norm now than the outlier. And, the training methods and all the different ai aided analysis creates paths for the young player to adjust quicker as the teams get tape on hitters and pitchers. It was an eye opening conversation. And Kruk is such an everyday lunch pail guy. He explains things in depth with language for the common folk.
I wish I had taped the conversation. Perhaps it's on you tube? Or will be within the month.
He dove really deep into why the marlins are so successful developing you g pitchers the past few years and other MLB teams have noticed the different method they are using. It all has to do with less stringent coaching of grip for specific pitches and how the different grips for the same pitch match to the individual pitchers release point. I found it absolutely fascinating.
