Each sweeping the other at home.
Weekend series in detroit on tap betwixt the 2 central contenders. Detroit enters the series only 2.5 behind chicago for the central lead and in possession of the 3rd wild card by a half game over Texas. +1 over TC & 1.5 ahead of the guards.
Big series on tap? Ya think?
Looking on the horizon however, 4 games at chicago between the same 2 front runners Sept 17-20.
The stretch between the 2 series vs Chicago is a gauntlet for the tigers. At Pitt & KC followed by home stand that host Tampa & dodgers for 6 before playing 10 straight inside the division vs tc & Cleveland. The white Sox schedule is almost as daunting. Only the white Sox have Houston / Rangers remaining on their schedule.
Should be a competitive see-saw finish in the central as the season winds down.
Perhaps the biggest question In the AL playoff race?
Will the Red Sox follow up their historic recovery run with an equally historic fail streak? The momentarily unbeatable Fenway freaks suddenly can't hit, field or pitch. Streaky teams tend to even out over the duration.
So many unknown to finish up August & September.
The 1 known quantity?
ABS has been a huge success and should be expanded in future seasons when/if baseball returns. Or? FFS... Just go full robo ump on balls & strikes. It makes ml. SOOOO much better!
What a disaster/ black eye it'd be for MLB if game 7 of a future WS is decided by a bad pitch call and the team hosed is out of challenges!
