Construction project at FM 518 and I-45 starts Friday evening A construction project that plans to relieve traffic congestion at the intersection of FM 518 and I-45, starts Friday evening. Work will start on the north side of FM 518 between Hobbs Rd./Lafayette Ln. and Wesley St. During construction, traffic lanes on this section of FM 518 will transition to one lane in each direction, with additional lanes open at the I-45 intersection. Businesses will retain existing access while work is in progress. There will be an increase in traffic congestion. Plan for an alternate route during heavy traffic periods as this project is underway. This is part of TxDOT’s larger I-45 improvement project and should be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting. Improvements being made include: * Double left and right turn lanes added on east and westbound FM 518 at I-45 * North and southbound frontage roads will increase from 4 to 6 lanes, including double left and right turn lanes, along with dedicated U-turn lanes * Increase from 7 to 10 total lanes under the I-45 overpass, including 2 dedicated left turn lanes in each direction and 3 through lanes in each direction To get more information about the project, visit https://www.leaguecitytx.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=3672

I opened the link you provided Carrie, and it looks like the project "start" has been delayed a week to September 16. I copied and will paste: UPDATE: The FM 518 & I-45 intersection improvement project that was set to start the evening of September 9 has been delayed one week and will now begin on Friday, September 16.
This will be a massive intersection when finished!!
Isn't "finish" really! the next challenge. I don't understand they way WB contractor has almost every intersection from above 518 to the Causeway bridge in some stage of "torn up". Absolutely unbelievable that they wouldn't have finished two or three along the way before starting the next ones. I'm quite sure TxDOT had something to do with that planning and it, in my humble, red neck, backwoods, ex-planning engineer, opinion is just a bit insane!!
