Just Announced: Texans affected by Beryl can start applying for federal aid this weekend July 12, 2024 at 4:03 p.m.
Residents and business owners in 15 Texas counties that were hard hit by Hurricane Beryl will soon be able to apply for federal dollars to help them cover the costs to repair or replace their homes, federal officials told The Texas Tribune on Friday.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency funding will be available to uninsured and underinsured people who live in Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, and Wharton counties, said FEMA spokesperson Jaclyn Rothenberg.
Individuals will be able to apply for funding by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362 or by using the FEMA App. The quickest way to receive the dollars is often by applying online because of high call volume, Rothenberg said. Registration is expected to open by Saturday morning.
Affected individuals can also visit a FEMA disaster recovery center to get direct help from a FEMA staff member. Some recovery centers were opened in the Houston region after a May derecho storm slammed into the region in May.

I found after Ike the best way to apply was online late night or early morning. The phone app. line had wait times of 2-3 hours and the "we will call you back" did not call anyone back. This seems to be the same system. I do know someone who was able to apply on line this morning around 8 a.m. & the process was about half an hour. Hurry up and wait has been the theme of just about everything with Beryl.
The message was just a FYI. I got my application submitted and approved night before last. FEMA sent me a letter that is posted in my account. They want me to login to my account to read their letter. I cannot not access and read their letter because, FEMA website repots-"We’re sorry, but the system can’t respond right now. Typical PUBLIC SERVICE ( / Government / CenterPoint / MUD12 / ) being overwhelmed in traumatic situations. The only reliable public service is yourself, family, friends, and good neighbors pulling together. Good luck and God bless Bayou Vista.
