They cold bloodedly got those now redundant employees to persuade customers to switch to on-line banking.

Agree. The staff at my local bank always asked me if I would consider doing online banking, & I always said no, I'd rather keep you guys employed. Sadly, eventually shut last year. To add insult to injury, also removed their ATM.
