If I go to someone else's country, loud-talking in English in the midst of a group of natives is considered "ugly American" or "Billy Brit Abroad"-level bad manners.

But here, foreigners feel free to jabber away in Farsi or Urdu or Arabic even while they're taking people's money behind a counter.

There may come a reckoning some day.
