I could see paying all pensioners, including King Charles the fuel allowance may have been wrong and myself, i just saw it as a good freebie as i can easily pay my bills but keep them lower by careful use and insulation.
The worst of this is Pensioners who could, but do not claim pension credits due to not being able to do the claims. If only the DWP would just find the ones not claiming and just give them the money they are entitled too.
The Citizens advice who help these people just do not have enough staff now but i see in Town, the office is operated a few hours a week.
During my 4 years off work in 1979, i also found very little help until after 6 Months when they started giving me more money than my pay. They then told me there were many things i could claim but i have to find it myself. I did find all the paper claim forms and posted off and more money came in and i could feed the family again.
Later on, i helped a few people to claim their entitlement to disabled benefits and most were successful although 2 applications failed.
I see that petrol duty may rise in the budget by 5p litre and as a low user, it will not have any effect on me but wait for the rises in cost due to transport costs. The last 2 Months have had a few problems for older people. I expect the Bus passes will be taken soon unless you have pension credit.
