There are quite a few farms around here where new "Farmhouses" have been built, invariably they are very large detached properties.

We have a farming friend who used to grow grain crops, for a very long time he has been enjoying the income he gets from "set aside" where he is paid to grow nothing - not seen him for a while so don't know if he is still enjoying that income.

Another farming mate I have known since school has been approached by one of the wind turbine companies, he said that he could get something like 35k a year from them if they get planning permission to put a wind turbine in one of his fields - nice "work" if you can get it.

And it is true you don't see many farmers driving around in old cars.......
