The thing I've never understood is that farming is terrible, no money is ever made etc etc and yet I never see any tractors that aren't massive new ones doing 40mph on the road and which I probably couldn't overtake if I was riding a classic single. I hear they have GPS direction in the cab for sowing perfectly etc. To me this suggests things aren't going too badly out in the fields.

Can both these things be true at the same time? Are they, or are those expensive bits of kit tax write-offs?
