I have had no spare wheel on any car since 2002, however, when i did get a puncture out in the Countryside, there was a big hole in the tyre so impossible to seal with the can supplied. It took a long time for recovery on a truck to my house. Then, next day, it was towed to a tyre fitting garage. Not very convenient but the reason for no spare is to keep weight down and the car into a lower vehicle tax bracket on some models.
The breakdown vehicles do carry a universal spare wheel now and fit that then you return it after the tyre repair so much better now.
