Skoda built really nice steam locomotives.

And field guns, tanks & heavy machine tools, like travelling column floor borers. And more recently IIRC they also constructed the London Eye (or part of it). But the Skoda Heavy Engineering division isn't anything to do with the cars.

The Heavy Engineering site in Plzen is huge. I worked in Plzen on a couple of occasions & was driven past the site every day to get from my digs to where I was working - literally miles long by miles wide.

Also went past the Mlada Boleslav car plant while working in the North of the county during Communist times - passed that on the motorway from Prague to Liberec where I was working. The driver pointed the factory out & said that the car plant at that time was at least partly operated by political prisoners.
