Existing shaft metal-sprayed and ground back to size?

A bit of a small part for metal spraying ?

Hard chrome plate + grind back to size was the way we used to sort out worn lathe parts at a former employment rebuilding them, but it is costly as the shaft first has to be ground to remove the wear and get a sound surface, plate oversize & then grind again to get size. Lots of setup time x 2 + sending the part out to the plater makes for big bills, unfortunately.

AFAIK the local specialist company we used to use to do such jobs is still in business & I would be happy to talk to them to see if this could be a viable solution if nothing else transpires, but if NOS or good SH parts are available then that would probably be the path of lowest expenditure.
