I knew about some of my families military service. My uncle was involved in the X-craft mini subs in WW2, surviving the Scharnhorst raid & D-day recon, only to perish in a training exercise in the Far East, just before the end.
My mother & aunt lived in London through the Blitz, the latter being an ARP warden in London.
Found out recently about two relatives who served in WW1. One was listed as missing. believed killed. Another died on the first day of the Somme offensive.
