Not sure the weather forecasters always used to do this, but whenever temperature, or rainfall are above or below the "average" for the time of year (whatever the average figure is), they always have to mention it.

Always used to be they would just say we are going to have a hot or cold spell, or a dry or wet spell, these days they seem obsessed with so called above or below "average" figures.

Guess it is their way of continually reminding us all of the global climate issues.
